Marvelous. I can't tell you how thrilled I am to see fic revolving around Acid Storm - his relationship with Shockwave (in particular as his creation) is something I'd really, really wanted to read about. Your take on it is just perfect!
Shockwave's logical approach to creation, the shift from toys to a sentient mech, the way Acid Storm develops and starts evolving into something not completely predictable (eeeh, the desire to fly!) were all absolutely intriguing. Thank you very much for sharing this. :)

Thank you! I'm glad you liked the take. Acid Storm was fun to play with! XD

What a gorgeous fic. So many beautiful lines. Especially this: he wanted no such mistakes as had left in the Nemesis; there was no energy to waste on treachery or incompetence or doubts.

And this: After all, Acid Storm only knew Shockwave and himself, as of yet, among a whole tower of the inanimate and the non-sentient and the dead.

I also love Shockwave's emphasis on energy, and the way that energy (collection, conservation, and particularly transfer) cements and articulates the relationship between him and his creation.

Acid Storm's characterisation was also fascinating. Especially the way that he learns and grows to be slightly different from/more than his core programming, and hence can surprise Shockwave just a little - particularly with his apparent desire for companionship.

Shockwave finding himself missing Soundwave was also a lovely touch.

All in all, an absolutely wonderful story, and I really enjoyed it :)

I'm glad you like my lists of three! Go rhetorical techniques! XD

Energy is everything to Shockwave, and I like being able to do stuff, like...walking to another room unnecessarily is actively detrimental to their survival. Poor guys.

You know my fascination with young-but-adult TFs, and it's nice to do one who's, ah, not Motormaster, or even Cyclonus. Acid Storm gets to have something closer to what you might call a childhood, even. But isn't a child.

I'm pleased and slightly amused how many people have mentioned the one line about Soundwave, but I'm glad I put it in there! And, thank you very much!

I'm very fond of certain rhetorical tecniques when done well, and that's one of them :D

I share your fascination with the coming-online-as-an-adult theme. And yeah, compared with a lot of other characters, Acid Storm has a rather gentle/peaceful time of it.

lol, for me it's because I am first and foremost a Soundwave fangirl :P (even though I find more to write about others)

I wasn't using the technique on purpose, exactly, but both lists seemed to need a third element. :D

He sure does! *goes back to writing Motormaster* ;)

Soundwave is awesome, but I have trouble writing him, too. Shockwave is much easier!

Somehow this is both kind of creepy and... sweet, in a uniquely Shockwave way. Love your take on the Rainmakers and how they came to be... it manages to fit together both of my headcanons, one being that Shockwave was completely isolated until the space bridge was built, the other being that he had the Rainmakers and some other lower-ranked 'cons under his command. I've never been able to figure out which one I prefer, but... I like this. I like this a lot.

And I love the ending. XD Elita and Shockwave do have that in common, don't they? x3

Yeah, it's always an interesting question just how many people were on Cybertron with Shockwave. First it was just him, then him and his Rainmakers, then there was Elita's group...and then there are a lot of Transformers who we just don't know where they came from, but Cyberton seems as logical a place as any! Usually I don't think he was actually alone, but probably isolated because of the lack of energy for travel and communication.

But it's good for him to have someone to keep him company!

And they do! They're both missing their beloved leaders. <3

I thoroughly, thoroughly, enjoyed that. I love fic about Shockwave, especially doing what he does best. X) It's also a fantastic look into the creation of the Rainmakers.

I want more, but the way you structured the ending, I don't need more. Great job! *^*)

I am glad! I was terrified writing the beginning of this that I'd managed to start something that didn't have an ending. So I'm glad it has one!

And Shockwave is awesome and needs more fic. Thank you! <3

This is so cute! :D Shockwave is his crepy old self, I could see him making toys like that. Acid Storm is so naive and sweet; he just wants some friends. Nicely written!

I actually have many that fit this story, by chance :D The little comic I'm working on has some similar ideas (Shockwave raising rainmakers, that is), but they'll play out pretty differently.

Right! I remember that! Rainmaker eggs, whee! And it was gorgeous. :D
