My cold attempted to rally and nursing a low grade fever and mild grumpiness we forwent hiking and instead went to the Hearst Castle, which I got a kick out of largely because of Xanadu in Citizen Kane. We had dinner at a great Iranian place in Monterey, and when the ( Read more... )

Fe'shtajaan? No idea if I spelled that right. It's a stew of walnuts, chicken, onions, and pomegranate juice. Yummmm. It was better than at the place back home (imagine that).

Hey I'm contemplating a printer verse holidays fic. Leonard takes Jim to GA for the holidays. He angsts about telling his Mom he has a boyfriend. Jim is all, I can be cool. Eleanor figures it out pretty quickly. Jocelyn, not so much. Jim and Jo get on adorably. Too much like Topeka?

This post makes me smile and love my home. <3

Also makes me smile because I just watched Citizen Kane again for my Cinema Final.

You know they built entire houses for set pieces like with roofs and enteriers? Also it was the first flick filmed almost entirely in deep focus?

Oh and WRH offered the studio massive amounts of money to not show the film, and offered other studios money so that they could buy it and destroy it.

It's also destroyed Wells career because no one would produce his movies after that the way he wanted them, they studio took control of editing on the rest of his three film contract.

Umm whoa sorry about this rant.... /filmschoolnerd.

ETA: Did you get to try any of those places in South City? (the city you where staying in by the airport lol)

Understood--I saw that film for my Film Studies Intro lo many moons ago. *g*

And no, didn't try any of your recs as we were still too lagged and I was gross. We'll be back in the city at the end of the week so we'll see--Scott has this whole Plan he is following and I'm tagging along. The brunch place we went to yesterday at the Marketplace--Boudrettes and Lard? Something like that--was awesome tho, if you haven't tried it yet!

Dude I haven't I shall next time my friends and I drive down there for an afternoon of hijinx.

I can't wait to see the photos of your drive down the coast. Normally on Saturdays and Mondays I am in Halfmoon Baby like two hrs away from Montery Bay, for band practice. But the weather has caused issues driving down the coast.

Next time you are out this way we should totally kick it. When you are not tagging along with the magical hubby :D
