Taken Over by the Fashionistas-Confessions

I am really working...it seems non-stop. It was really good to see some magazine articles under my name again...however, it is non-stop, and the Staff literally throws things, screams and has quite impressive temper tantrums. I am hired to be the voice of reason-now that alone should demonstrate the very unique Egyptian mentality. I confess that I ( Read more... )

What is shisha? Is that like the hookah pipe with flavors?

The Arabs didn't bring good coffee to Egypt? I guess not...I heard that a lot of Starbucks stores went out of business in Israel because, war/occupation on or not, Arab coffeehouses rock.

Enjoy your little toadie...I guess you can put her to work! :) I couldn't bear it, though...I don't even like it when the students kiss up to me. All I ask for is obedience, efficiency, literacy, and quality customer service.

Shisha is smoked in a large ornate waterpipe-it rather looks like hash-I am not exactly sure what it is...it can be flavoured with wonderful fruits, or almost any spice. At the shisha places, one sits and smokes endless waterpipes, and an attendant keeps up the refills and relights and stirs the waterpipe...it is all very relaxing...the Arabs have excellent Turkish coffee, but the "American coffee" is very expensive-even the instant. The pipes are lovely, and the atmosphere almost like some type of outdoor opium den..it is too relaxing to be just tobacco..I will find out what else is in it...The Toadie must have some sick sense of something...the yelling worked and she "loves" me..it is really very strange...If I find a Starbucks here, I would be thrilled.....Obedience, efficiency And literacy...wouldn't that be great!!!!! sandy

Would be nice to experience the beautiful parts of Cairo, smoking shisha without needing to be covered or feeling as though we're imposing just by the breath of air that we take. I definitely like the air of aristocracy once in a while, its fun to fake it. Half of them are anyway. There's the select few that were born and bred that way, but come on - who isn't a wannabe these days? Wouldn't it be cool if you could order a shipment of zone bars over to where you are? You would think you could order out of Dubai possibly. Perhaps over the net - but would it actually arrive? In tact? Probably not. Frequently my packages to London never make their destination - the post is so corrupt. The girls rule here in my home. I'm the Queen, and my husband is the King. I take precedence always but never forget the counsel of my beloved. The men of the Middle East and many other places in this world for that matter are just afraid of the power that women truly hold. We are the mothers, lovers, and owners of this beautiful earth - here to nurture and ( ... )

Dubai for Zone bars cairocandy June 9 2006, 23:02:06 UTC
My mail from the States almost never arrives...even the furniture shipment was not intact. Now, I would love to fly to Dubai for Zone bars! Women are really not to even smoke cigs (they all hide it) and shisha is becoming a big concern here-as even the women who cover are smoking it outdoors at shisha bars-the fundies are very upset by this. The best place to smoke is in the longest running bazaar in the world-and the most recently bombed...but although less tourists are there now, it is still great...anyway, recently there are not enough Westerners to bother bombing the place! I beleive men are afraid of women's power and the very dominant men are the ones who are most afraid...but, I also know some decent men. It is hard with a girl here-when we have to run into the kitchen when the doorbell rings, I just tell her we are too beautiful for the door and we go the girls rule high five. What to read...Goodall knows...have you read "The poisonwood Bible"-not a Bible but concerning a missionary family intertwining and suffering due to ( ... )
