Lots of eagle updates!

After several days flying out to branches and often spending the entire night on the branch, the two oldest eaglets have fledged!   This doesn't mean they've left the nest for good, but it means they've flown away from the tree into the "wild blue"... or at least around in the sky above the tree and the farm and the hatchery.  I believe they'll ( Read more... )

It's always bittersweet, seeing babies grow up. I'm just glad these three are doing so well. :)

Yep, this mum and dad are great parents - they raised all three last year, too. :) Great, successful hunters.

Brr. I'm in no hurry! January is usually *not* a fun month. Except for eaglecam watching!

I really liked that funny one, too. It seemed to capture that one's curious and somewhat goofy personality. *g*

It's been so fun this last week watching all three of these young eagles testing their wings... whether wingercizing in the nest or now finally soaring around. And they do have funny voices! I'm always surprised how they squee and whine and squawk. But compared to peregrine eyas, who shriek their displeasure at ear-shattering, lunge-for-the-volume-control levels, these eaglets are the souls of moderation. LOL
