Mysterious mushroom...

I have no idea what kind it is. Maybe an ink cap mushroom, but naturally none of the images on google look exactly like it. We've been having a lot of rain lately and the forest floor is sprouting with all kinds of fun little mushrooms, but this one

Oooo, now that is interesting! It really looks like something you'd find after a fire swept through, except, of course, that nothing else around it is burnt.

It looks a bit like an amanita onusta, not completely the same, but it's the best match I could find.

I finally found the variety: strobilomyces confusus, commonly called (and I might say hilariously called) "Confused Old Man Of The Woods." I had posted another pic of one that was "Old Man of the Woods", or strobilomyces strobilaceus, that was growing nearby.

Supposedly both are edible but will stain your pot black. I think I'll just admire them from afar.
