A little bonus music...

The "Misty Mountains" song is by far my favorite thing about The Hobbit movies and somehow I missed that back in May, Peter Hollens did yet another cover of it featuring Home Free's Tim Foust (doing his best Thorin Oakenshield impression... and I don't mean that facetiously. He has the Richard Armitage Thorin Oakshield Intense Gaze™ pat ( Read more... )

I love Home Free, they're a Minnesota-originated group. There's nothing better than a deep bass voice, it resonates so wonderfully! Thanks for posting this, I wasn't aware of this video and it's a stunner, isn't it?

I somehow missed it as well until Tim Foust posted it on his FB page this week after it surpassed a million views. (Tim is from Texas and it's kind of hilarious how much he complains about the cold in Minnesota...)

What was really fun was that I recognized the Ice Castle immediately because my youngest niece took her daughters to see it last year and had lots of pics on her FB posts. This year it's at the other end of the greater Metro area in Stillwater (and it's even colder - at least it was this past weekend - LOL).

I wondered if you'd recognize the locale. So this is something that someone creates, since evidently it changes locations? I always assumed it was some sort of natural feature somewhere.

Wow. And OMG, I can never get that song out of my head!

It gets into mine, too, but for some reason I don't mind it like I do other earworms. It's just a beautiful, haunting song.

I've heard them before, I think also shared by you. The cover is very well done, but I'm afraid it doesn't work at all for me. I totally see the appeal for you, though! :)

Well, I never expect any video I post to appeal to everyone, as tastes vary widely. But hopefully you can at least appreciate the skill, even if it's not a genre that appeals to you (I'm that way with opera... I can appreciate the talent and the skill, but it's not a style of music that usually moves me like it does those who love it.)

That I certainly can, as I said. ;) It's not the genre either, just this cover; usually it's single pieces for me, rarely a whole genre. I also well remember that I really liked songs you shared by this group before, even if none of your recent favourites. But I never expect people to like what I like either, and it would be a sad thing if we never tried anything else. :) I gained two new favourites through your various music sharing, the Wailin' Jennys and Pentatonix' Holiday songs. I'm sorry, though, if my being honest here and in the other Music entry bothered you.

*shivers* Oooooh man. So. Much. Love.

Tim Foust's voice is just unbelievable. I mean, Peter Hollins is incredible too, and I love his voice. But that range is unreal. And so perfect for a dwarven song.

Isn't it shiver-inducing??? So good, and I especially like that it's the long version. The movie version was too short!

Tim Foust's range really is crazy. Even if the lowest notes are more breathy, he still hits the note itself. And Peter Hollins is just an amazing arranger.

I love especially that it's the long version of the song... I always think the movie cut it too short!
