have you read his shannara and word&void trilogy?
word and void is probably my favorite brooks set.. I'm pretty interested to see how he's tying everything together. So far, I like what he's doing. It's all a big circle! Hooray!

I adore the word and the void trilogy.

I read the first of the shannara series and went Ewwwwweeeeeee. Tolkien rip off.

Still, I really like this series.

welcome to the monkey house is one of my favorite books ever. i read it often, particularly when i have trouble sleeping. (if i read big long stories i just stay up all night because i'm too excited. short stories force me to have a stopping point.) lately i've been reading the stories aloud to dan.

i just looked back through your book posts to see if you'd read a few things i was going to recommend and somehow i completely missed your first post of the year, with a walk in the woods and lamb, but i <3 both of those books too.

anyway. if you haven't read it, i'd recommend gilead by marilynne robinson. i'm reading it now and i find it very beautiful. it's a letter from a dying pastor to his 7-year old son, who doesn't know he's dying. it's not preachy or trite, though, which is nice. and really, the prose is just lovely. i've read several passages aloud to dan and he likes it a lot, too

A prayer for Owen Meany is awesome! It made me laugh until tears rolled down my cheeks.

Gilead I haven't seen. I'll put it on my list.
