I work in an office, but I'm so glad I have an out. Soon as I'm finished with my library degree, I'm moving on. Its a glaring fact that I totally don't fit in with the "crowd" here at my work. Great people, but I just don't have much in common with anyone, and that's how its always been at any office I've worked at.
Kinda makes me miss those college days at CSULB, but I had such a rosy view of the working world at that time.
My suggestion is do everything in your power to break free from the type of job you despise. Even if you never quite succeed, you can at least say you tried, and even in doing that, at least you are pursuing what you have more of a passion for.
In my perception, what counts isn't how you spend that 40 hours a week while on the clock, but what you do while you are not on the clock.
