Grandma died on the 30th. She was taken down from sedation & then off the breathing machine & died 20 minutes later. I have been assured that she went peacefully. The funeral will be on the 4th of January, which, not incidentally, is her surviving husband's birthday. Speaking of Grandpa, nobody really knows what to do with him. His dementia is

Sounds like you're being rather hard on yourself though...based on what you've said of her, I expect she was very proud of your accomplishments so far in life, and also would completely understand, and even prefer, you to continue to pursue your goals rather than put them on hold for her sake.
Although you can't be physically present at her funeral, that does not stop you from being able to properly grieve for her. It will just be a little bit harder for you; not having the luxury of being around your family during this time.
