According to a number of sources, Australia has indicated that they will ban incandescent light bulbs in three years in an effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, becoming the first country to do away with this technology. Not to be confused with a black light bulb market...

I wonder how much I'll rack up in emissions driving to Mexico to get my incandescent bulbs. Or how many trees will die to print out the reams of fine print that will be necessary to allow people to continue to use things like Christmas lights.

The wrong-color problem and the visible flicker would both be problems for me. I'm happy to use 'em in ceiling fixtures (that aren't on dimmers), but I'm very particular about my reading lamp.
