The musical director was Kevin Rotty, a freelance composer, musical director from... suburban Minneapolis. Reading his credits, he is (a) unfamiliar with this particular theatre, (b) unfamiliar with this size of theatre, and (c) unfamiliar with real musicals. He's an inhouse musical director for Troupe America.
The Beach Reporter certainly trashed the show in its review. I thought it was OK, but then I tend to like the music from it. However, reading more about Troupe America, I think I would be leery of their shows in the future. I'd like to see what the San Fernando Valley Playhouse folks could do with productions of their own, instead of pre-packaged roadshows.

That's really unique, usually it's the other way around and the tempo sometimes gets faster during live performances. Who was the musical director?
It does sound like an interesting concept for a show. I'm sorry I missed it.
