-Is it just me or does Sam look a little like he's fighting off a Psychic Migraine when he's answering the phone there...? Fighting to patch the cracks Dean's just punched into Sam's walls of pragmatic self-defensive deception.
I thought I was the only one who saw that. I think Sam's "no headache" response to Ruby was a LIE because he's a LYING LIAR WHO LIES. But, why would he lie to Ruby about that. I doubt that she has much concern for Sam physically - could she have suggested dialing "training" back so Sam could recover from the headaches? If "training" is physically damaging to Sam then he might not be up to the endgame which would be no good for him or Ruby. I wonder about that.
Hm. I think he genuinely didn't have a headache after that thing earlier in the episode, but maybe if that was a headache on the phone, then it was a delayed reaction, and the headaches are linked to resisting the powers, so when he retroactively feels a resistance tousing them because of what Dean said, he gets the headache?. Maybe? And if they are linked to him resisting, then Ruby would want to have him get clobbered with them as much as possible to show him not to resist. Just a thought, she doesn't strike me as one who's terribly familiar with pacing and positive reinforcement. :-/
Regardless, I don't think the headaches are physically damaging, not permanently.
That's a lot to pin on a half-second glimpse of Dean's face lurking in the shrubbery in the dark, but what can I say, Jensen Ackles is awesome like that.
*nods in agreement*
Sam has that happy puppy 'I did good yay!' tail-waggy face and I want to smack him for it because this is Ruby he's looking for positive feedback from like he's just learned how to tie his own shoes.
He makes me want to screencap with amusing captions in lolcat. And I dislike lolcat. :-P
Before Sam took off to get tutored by Ruby, he unpacked everything and hung it on hangers in the hotel closets in order of light spectrum wavelength or something. *nods*
*nods along, giggling*
Sam does have a point there, about the lack of killing the hostDean's "use the knife" made me want to smack them both and call them edjits! I can understand the issue when you're on open ground and the demon can make mincepie out of you with a flick of a finger, but Sam & Ruby had gone through all the trouble of tying down the possesed dude and putting him under a seal... once you get
( ... )
I really have no idea how she can be that bad and still be there. I mean, in a combat scene with potential verbal sparring with Jensen Ackles, and directed by Kim freaking Manners even, and that was the best they got from her?? Yeesh. I'm hoping when the character does return, and of course she will, she'll have a new host.
I definitely think Sam will be faced with a crisis as to whether to use his powers (ends justifying the means type of thing), but it won't be for Dean. His post-resurrection anti-possession tattoo (and how long would that phrase be in French) seems to be intact.
Yeah, but there are a lot of ways to disrupt a tattoo, and considering getting shot, knifed or clawed is not an uncommon part of their lives, it doesn't even have to be a deliberate attack to it. Or something like Jus in Bello. I kind of think when the FBI demon took the shot at Dean in the cell, he was aiming for his tattoo.
and Sam and Dean are going to go roam around and hunt some things and save some people as God John Winchester intended them to! For a while! Until mytharc roars in and bites 'em again! And then there will be even more glee! Woohoo! \o/
Yeah. That, right there, pretty much sums up my feelings on the issue. *grin*
an issue with a capital Ish
This is my new favorite phrase.

Yeah, and coupled with his mention that the Emetic Hand thing didn't cause him headaches any more, I was kind of wondering if the show was trying to make me notice something. If so, I'm concerned, because I don't get it. Maybe I'm just reading too much into things.
No, there totally isn't two levels of conversation going on there at all.
Show is so very subtle!!
It's the pull-off from Salvation! Perfect place for epic yelling!
There should be, like, a sign. "Turn-off of Epic Winchester Shouty Ansgt." Or something.

Yep, that too. That's the problem with magic items floating around, people stop thinking about the ways to accomplish things without using them.
It's a theme, not an anvil. ICON
Hehe. Really?

Ah, but that is the job of a fan, no? ;-)

Oh totally. It should be commemorated. *nods*
