Poor Mycroft, receiving such a letter from such a man and being unable to tell him the truth. Nice choice of font too.

It was a search to find that font. Everything else was either too fancy or too modern. I'm still not entirely happy with it, the loops of the 't's bug me.

I just hope Mycroft wrote something back to ease the heartache a bit

Knowing Mycroft in general, if he sent anything back it was very formal acknowledgement of the condolences and a return of the same, all worded in a way that could be taken as condolence for the loss of Holmes, or apologies for Holmes' faked death putting Watson through hell.
