Music Video Rec.

lurkingwombat finds the coolest stuff!

This is an actual music video from an Italian pop group (lyrics are in English), and seriously, it's like a four and a half minute version of a summer sci-fi blockbuster set to dance music.

Embedded under the cut to spare people's f-list viewing bandwidth. )

music, video, omg, whee!!, rec

I know, it's like an update of Bladerunner, but with added Romeo and Juliet.

Not to derail the awesomeness of the original video, but wouldn't the song be great for a Doctor Who fanvid?

You know what happens in nine days? I get to see you!

I know! I'm looking forward to it! *smishes you*

...okay, so the guy stole the king's deer, they're going to hang him with a rope of gold, he meets some swaying gnomes who make him dance, then he... lets the deer lose and turns one of the gnomes into Santa.

Weird.

Three-D printers have come a long way from the model making machines in the 90's. Moving parts and everything. That really does rock, and is a fantastic thing for remote locations of all kinds.

Oh man, tell me you've heard Janelle Monae (note: website autoplays music and video). She's like the queen of dance-able sci-fi. She's a hip-hop/funk artist with clear soul and rock influences whose whole shtick is a character named "Cindi Mayweather", an android who's fallen in love with a human and as such is sentenced to be decommissioned. . . .

"Tightrope" and "Many Moons" are the big singles (and fabulous), but you really have to check out the whole thing. It's the first concept album that I've really been able to pick out the plot of without a cheat sheet!

Well I have now! "Many Moons" is very cool, love the little parallels to Metropolis, and was that seriously the Sesame Street counting song at the start?

You mean the "voodoo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo" bit? Quite possibly, I hadn't made the connection till just now, but she totally wears her influences on her sleeves.

She also mentions electric sheep in a few of her songs, and the Terminator. It's awesome.
