I love that you weren't afraid to kill people brutally, love the interplay of the hunters (esp. as Ted flips off someone even while chanting), all their different styles, etc. Ash's sudden ability to wax prophetic about being on the side of Hell - so much yay. And Terry blowing up the bar FTW.
This was quite a ride, and as much as I liked all the hunters you created, I liked their dying even more, if that makes sense, because of course we never *met* any of them in the Roadhouse other than Ash, so the loss of the Roadhouse was not really all that painful in the context of the show.

I think on the show the Roadhouse was introduced badly, and gained a percentage of vocal opposition among fans because of that, which in turn made the showrunners nervous about trying to develop it further.
I also think that it was doomed to go boom, so to speak, whether it was developed or not, since it's a gathering place for hunters, and makes a sensible tactical target for evil things trying to take over the world. Probably the only tactically intelligent thing YED ever did was going after the Roadhouse. :-)

Of course I'll leave a comment. I hardly ever leave no comment. Sometimes, if something punches really hard, I'll get stuck and have to come back, but I'm a commentor.

This is SO much better, and THIS is my canon. The Roadhouse deserved better than what Kripke gave them. Thanks for setting it right.

I think that the Roadhouse was doomed to be a target from the outset, but its end could have been dealt with better by the series. I think maybe the writers wanted to de-emphasise the Roadhouse after the initial negative fan reaction to it and sort of shuffled it off under the carpet. Although, mass combat sequences and huge explosions are probably really expensive to shoot. :-)

ETA: And as I scroll up further I see I didn't respond because it was a duplicated comment and I'd responded to the first one. *double facepalm* XD
