Chapter 36. The ugly chapter.

On Tuesday, I will going away into the wilds of the Grand Canyon Parashant National Monument area with a backpack, water, tent and a notebook.  I will not be returning from the wilderness for two weeks.  There will be no computer acces, no cell service, and no work.  Hell, I won't even have toilet.  The plan is to hike, study rock art with the Park ( Read more... )

and I would never willingly consent to go where there is not even a toilet and running water. ick!

I admit, it's not a vacation that appeals to everyone. When I tell people that we're only allowed 2 liters of water a day for bathing, teethbrushing and clothes rinsing, most walk away at that point. I, however, am looking forward to getting dirty, and stinky, and tired, and probably sunburnt. At least I'll be able to get a shower at the hotel before getting back on the plane to come home. :-)

We can and I do have a package but this is "leave no trace camping" so everything we pack in, we have to pack back out again. The less you have to carry the better.

Oh wow, there really is a heart clenching quality to this snippet of the chapter. It took a whole bunch not to get teary eyed when Rink showed the sheets. Better then being incinerated I guess? As always, well done.
