Fairness is a concept of purely human invention, having nothing to do with cosmic reality. Snails and stars do not expect fairness. Only humans inveigh against destiny as if they were entitled to something better.

Justice is a purely human invention as well.
Striving for fairness (or justice for that matter), or hoping for fairness, is what allows us to get in line at the grocery store, drive on the freeway, and otherwise navigate through life without slamming into each other like drunken zombies on crystal meth.
Or killing homely babies to make the gene pool cuter. That would be totally unfair.
Of course, the idea that stars have any expectations at all also has nothing to do with cosmic reality.
In short, I demand that you chose some other quote, as this one is unacceptable, and perhaps unfair.
