I have a small collection of links for you all to peruse and enjoy.

First up is The Meaning of Meaning: Why Theism Can't Make Life Matter. A very mild and well thought-out argument, with a selection of comments that demonstrate a tendancy I've noticed of theists to become abusive when you tell them you don't believe what they're saying (another ( Read more... )

I can't for the life of me work out why you think that's relevant. Perhaps you could elaborate with more context?

(Now I'll just address the main post.)

That is a good article (the first link), although I do wish that, in claiming that "those arguments, when made explicit, expose the exact same weakness they claim to find in non-theistic explanations of value", he had been a little more rigorous about laying out exactly what the arguments were, and what that weakness was, and how it was found here; I can intuit some probable answers, but the absense of a more direct treatment does seem rather like a hole in his argument.

I am pretty happy, though, that he brought up Nietzsche in a debate about theism -- and yet, instead of any of the many cases where that worthy madman explicitly addresses religion, he turned to the peculiar thing about eternal recurrence! That strikes me as strangely classy.
