What does one gain when the dead returns to life? Is there an actual purpose, or is it simply a game of a higher being testing just how far the human spirit can be stretched? I know better than to believe this either Heaven or Hell, and I've seen too much to cast aside the possibility that against whatever odds I've managed to escape the clutches ( Read more... )

Anywhere can be considered as such if you believe it to be.

The thing here is I don't want to ask and receive only answers that could have been figured out with even the smallest amount of common sense. A waste of time.

Chocolate. Don't tell me you've never heard of it.

Sometimes eventually isn't good enough.

Is that a fact here or from wherever you came from?

I'm afraid you'll find we are without such luxuries as chocolate here.

[Which you would know if you'd already discovered as much as you claim, Light thinks. There's a certain naggingly arrogant quality to the tone of this typist that Light immediately dislikes, something intangible that's already set him on edge from the start. Perhaps it's the talk of returning from the dead. Perhaps it's something else he can't quite immediately grasp.

But regardless of his own personal feelings, Light has a front to uphold as part of the welcoming committee.]

However, there is no "right" question to ask as far as receiving detailed information about your current situation. All you need do is simply ask.

Where there's a will, there's always a way.

Perhaps I'm not one to subject myself to foolish children games like some people are. I like knowing what information I'm getting. Simply asking in general is never enough. I'm not looking for common sense answers here, I prefer more in depth ones. And with those, you always have to be sure you're asking the right question.

For example, just asking "Where am I and how did I get here?" isn't enough. The "right" questions would be "How did this place come to exist? Who made it what it is? How do they have the power to bring others, living or dead, from multiple realities into one place?"

Simple logic. But I can see how normal people wouldn't even considering asking such things.

Then I wish you the best of luck. If you do happen to find ready-made sweets, I'm sure there are others in the village who would also be interested.

[Not Light, though. Eww. Light hadn't necessarily been fond of sweets to begin with, but being forced to spend so much time around L and his peculiar eating habits had definitely put him off sugary things more or less for good.]

There is an introductory informational guide available, but I'm afraid the example questions you provided are not answered therein. Perhaps it would be of no use to you.

[They're odd questions, that's for certain. Nobody else in the village seems terrible preoccupied with such existential ponderations. Of course, Light thinks, this could be because everyone else in the village is at least smart enough to be concerned with immediately important things like daily survival. If all this idiot cares about is chocolate and philosophical queries, he or she won't last long.]

A world where fae are the masters, I'm not willing to put anything out of the realm of possibilities here. With things like this, not having an open mind would just be stupid and naive.

Of course what I ask wouldn't be in something like that, people don't think of those. Which is probably why I've heard there's no way to get back. If you know the source of something's power, know how it's done, then you can trace it and figure out if it can be used in reverse. The answers to those questions might just be a key to getting out of here. But of course, not everyone would consider things necessary and would easily overlook such an obvious conclusion.

When the dead return to life?

[this is actually a rather salient topic for junpei, especially after chidori's recent arrival.]

I dunno ... I guess you could say it's a second chance.

A second chance?

That's one way of looking at it.

It's ... not really the sort of thing that usually happens, y'know?

[and yet, junpei's seen it happen twice now with chidori - once here, and once in discedo - and with shinjiro in discedo, too.]

Back in "real life," I mean.

[ What is using text, that would require actual effort.. Instead Kyouko just laughs heartily as she turns on her feed, the sound of her footsteps resounding as well on the background. ]

Sounds like you got your priorities right there! [ And yes, she's actually serious about that. She could relate to the 'dead returning to life' thing too, but she prefers talking about this much more. ] Who cares about everything else as long as there's good food, right?

Sorry, I'd share my chocolate pocky with ya, but I already finished those a long time ago.

Pocky isn't my style anyways. Simple high quality chocolate bars are all I care about.

Know if there's any way to get them around here?

Oh, the demanding type, huh?

[ She shrugs a little, but leaves it at that. ]

And I dunno. It seems like it'd be hard to get cocoa around here anywhere, so I doubt you'd just find chocolate bars here. Maybe if ya'd put on your best face and ask the Guardian nicely, who knows? [ But she grins - she doesn't really seem to believe in that solution. ]

[ Sorry, Mello, more audio calls- but typing is hard. ]

Knowing that they can reach through Eden Vital so easily, I have a feeling learning their motives would only bring sorrow.

Motives are what give us the information we need. If we can find out things about them that others haven't bothered to look into, perhaps there's a way out of here after all.

More importantly, have you come into the village and found yourself a safe place to stay? The fair folk can be unforgiving, and I'm sure you've heard by now that they aren't the only dangers.
