I had a witty rejoinder to this, but LJ went down for scheduled maintenance as I was composing it- unbeknownst to me. The gist of it was that if the U.S. is a boob, California is a tumor of anti-tax, anti-communitarian, anti-government, xenophobic sentiment, and the cancer has spread pretty aggressively since Prop 13.

But, it's a good-looking tumor. That's fer shur.

Ahh, but the land- the manifold geography of the state- this we must gaze upon with sweet, hounded eyes.

Put away for seconds the heavy human taxation that runs and is governed in this ponderous Nation-state, and just look at the piqued hills, the fertile valleys, the ferocity of the Mojave, the Imperial Redwoods, the granite teeth of the Sierra, the low slum of the Salton sea, the billious fair climate beauty of the low coastal ranges slinging thru Orange County to San Diego below...

Many people in California are fuckwits. Cali breeds them like fucking fruit flys. BUT- the pure aspect of the land? That is where I put my heart for this most mis-understood of states. For all of the raping and pillaging of this Imperial containment, beauty reigns supreme in many corners of Our Fair State.

May we always love, fair Sarah, our Home and Number One. Despite how stupid the people upon it are.
