Street Parking in San Francisco

On Wednesday night, on my first pass through my neighborhood, I immediately found a prime parking spot - it was on a block that never has street cleaning. So does this mean you won't be charged for the tow?

San Francisco street parking is one of the major reasons I gave up on owning a car. I've had only a few bad experiences, but I don't forget them easily. One year I got towed as a result of Bay to Breakers, and my not spotting the signs warning about not parking. I would have had to look back behind me as I walked away from my car to see the tow away signs.

For years after owning a car I had nightmares about being towed. Seriously! :)

Unfortunately, I work in the south bay, and it would double my commute time to take public transit or the work shuttle, so I still keep my car around. I try to take my motorcycle a lot of the time, but when the weather's bad I drive.

I won't be charged for the tow, since there were no tow away signs posted. I'm glad they didn't even try, since I'm sure trying to fight it is neither fun nor effective.

I had to go to Pier70 once when my car was towed. Towed while I was DRIVING IT. I am not kidding. Anyway, it was a fucking nightmare, count your blessings that they just "moved it" for a while for you.

Towed while I was DRIVING IT.

I am trying to envision how this could be possible and it's not working.
