The first time it happened, I assumed for months that it was stress about the introduction of Legba into the household--and tried Rescue Remedy--but it turned out to be demodex mites (probably carried in by Legba ( ... )

Oh, yeah, and ivermectin didn't do any good, which also makes it seem more likely that it's not demodex.

Two tidbits that may or may not be of use to you:

1. Have you considered using neem oil to see if it improves Bart's skin condition?

2. Have you heard anything about the vet clinic that just opened on Monroe Street (next to Mallat's)?
