wikia Personality:
Born to the owners of a textile shop it was only natural for Kanji to take certain interests in craft making and sewing. When he was younger he preferred home economics to physical education and would rather play house than play catch. When he was in primary school Kanji offered to mend a girl's bag, he did it so she would be happy. But as soon as their classmates (the girls in particular) found out about it they started making fun of them and his hobby.
Thanks to this childhood ridicule, and quite possibly the passing of his father, Kanji changes his appearance to seem more manlier and scarier. He adopted a crew cut style haircut, bleached his hair, pierced his ears and nose, and got a skull head complete with the crossbones tattooed on one of his arms. He also started wearing more black, things with skulls, and leather jackets to complete his look. Along with the new found look he develops a more angrier attitude. He's very short tempered and reacts to most things by cursing or yelling. He hates being judged by people too, policemen especially. They can take one look at him and automatically think that he was bullying or roughing someone up. In fact his looks are actually pretty deceiving. Kanji is a gentle soul, despite the in-your-face front he has up most of the time. Ironically enough, Kanji is rather fond of cute things and openly expresses on numerous occasions how much he wants to touch Teddie's fur.
He has a constant fear of being rejected or getting hurt so he spent most of his time pushing people away. This all changes as soon as he meets Naoto Shirogane. Naoto was the first person Kanji truly felt comfortable with. Unfortunately, since he thought that Naoto was a boy in the beginning, this sparked a questioning of his sexual orientation. In his dungeon Kanji's true shadow represents his inner questioning of his sexuality and being unsure about the opposite sex. His shadow said that he preferred men, but, in reality he was just scared of being rejected by both sexes.
Prior his joining of the Investigation Team, Kanji hardly attended school. He saw no point in it if he he was just going to be stared at or accused by King Moron. So because of this he isn't as smart as the others. Kanji is also nosocomephobic. Nosocomephobia is the fear of hospitals. He hasn't liked them since the death of his father and he can get extremely antsy while inside one.
Another thing that drove Kanji was his obsession with becoming a true man. Before his father died he asked Kanji to find out what being a real man means. There were times when he thought he had figured out what it was his old man had meant, but things kept knocking him down. It isn't until the end that he's finally able to realize what being a man truly means. A real man is a male who does everything at one hundred percent.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
Give the boy a sewing needle and some type of thread and Kanji can go to town with it. Not only is he good with doll making, but, he's also good at mending any type of clothing as well. He can also whip out any kind of craft with basic school/house supplies as seen with what he did with Nanako's school project. Crafting and sewing aside, he's also an excellent fighter. Fist fighting or chair fighting, he can take names and kick some major ass. He is also very determined in battle and generally won't back down easily. He also generally cares about his friends and will do just about anything to ensure their happiness. And hey, if someone's picking on them he's got their back in a heartbeat.
Kanji isn't the brightest crayon in the crayon box. Due to his constant skipping he's behind in most of his classes, and because of this it takes him a little while longer to understand complex situations or questions. He's also still a little awkward when it comes to the case of making new friends, girls especially. He has the tendency to face a wall, or turn away from the girl entirely if things get out of his comfort zone. Kanji also has a very short temper, and if he thinks you're insulting him he will confront you immediately. Kanji also has a weakness to cute things and will probably lose track of thought (or whatever he was doing in general) in order to hold whatever the cute object is.

[Hellllloooo New Bark Town! Here, have a rather unpleasant glare from Kanji as he blinks confusedly at the device in his hands.] This thing workin' yet? Che, finally... [And with an awkward cough Kanji zooms out enough for you to see a Pichu playing happily on his shoulder.]
Where the hell am I? The last thing I remember was that I was talkin' to ma and--Aww shit, don't tell me I'm in the TV world again. Dammit Teddie, this ain't funny! [He pauses as he gently scopes the bouncing bundle of joy into his arms.]
And could someone tell me what this thing is!? It's kinda cu--
EXCUSE ME SIR, I'M GOING TO HAVE TO ASK YOU TO PUT DOWN THE POKéMON! OR GIVE IT TO ME.
[Kanji jumps up slightly in surprise as he accidentally drops his gear. Someone dressed up in an officer uniform slowly inches closer.] You stole that pokémon didn't you? Sir, I'm gonna ask you this one more time, hand over the--
What the hell, I don't even know what this thing's name is and you think I stole it?!
Third Person Sample:
To say that Kanji wasn't a nervous wreck would be a complete lie. Kanji was terrified. The Kanji Tatsumi, the teen who rough housed a bunch of pansy ass biker thugs, was fucking terrified. In fact, if he could have, he would have walked a fine trail into the ground of the pokécenter with the way he was pacing.
Sighing loudly he walked on over to the closest bench and plunked down on it. Even though his body language was clearly giving off "do not talk to" signals you could tell there was something wrong with the teen. Despite his unreadable face and the fact that his arms were crossed you could just sense something had happened to get him into a sour mood.
Tapping his heel to an unknown beat Kanji eyed the emergency room door long and hard. His eyes would widen slightly every time the nurse neared it, and it would lower every time she disappeared from eyesight.
Sighing once more he slid back against the bench as he leaned against the wall. Idly he stared at the ceiling as he nervously chewed on his bottom lip. He kept trying to talk himself into leaving for just a few seconds to get some fresh air and to just--relax, but, every time he found the strength to move some invisible force stopped him.
No... No matter how much he hated being stuck in a hospital, even if it was a pokémon hospital, he'd man up for this. Rokuten Maoh gave it his all during that battle. The least he could do in return would be to see this waith through to the end.
Clenching his fists, Kanji rose with a new determination and tried his best to wait patiently for his little Pichu to get out of recovery. Even though they lost this round, Kanji made sure that they would both give it 200% the next time.
