Oh, this is sad, but I must confess not as sad as I was afraid it was going to be.. I'm quite relieved that it's a 7-year old's fear of disappointment and boredom and strangers - all normal fears - that cause him to dislike cards, and not something deeper and uglier.

Well done for showing us how Jack feels and giving his fear an understandable rationale - I can completely sympathize with him in this!

Ah I'm glad that it wasn't as sad as you expected it to be! Indeed I didn't want to write anything particularly sad ^^ And well yes those were my fears when I was little too.
