Wow, that's a much better trailer than the one I saw before. Possibly just because there was *so* much more Callum in this one, but in any case, I'm now actually interested in the movie for reasons beyond admiring Callum in glasses. Yay!
Off to watch the trailer in a moment, but I have to say this first. I am not surprised about the $442 take. It's a really unpleasant movie about a serial killer with added stigma of being homegrown and so probably not even budgeted enough to be violent and really exploitative, and therefore, fun to people who like movies about serial killers. I still don't know who the audience is for an art film about serial killers. Just my little vent about that. *g*

*sigh* Yeah, I know. I guess the play it is scripted after is really famous though. So, maybe... *sigh*
But! $442? That just... wow. I mean, there were quite a lot of people working on that film. Don't they have, like, friends? Family? Someone who might be interested in that movie being successful? $442. That's just sad.

I know quite a few people here in Victoria who worked on Normal and would *love* to see the film... but it isn't being shown here and no one is going to take on the extra 100-150$ expense just to go to the mainland and see it...

You know, this just gets more and more depressing. Why didn't at least one theater show it. One or two showings, that's hardly too much to ask, is it? *sigh*
The scruffy hair and the glasses fill me with love. I do hope Normal will come out somewhere I can get to without a passport. Thanks so much for a pointer to the trailer.
i remember in Victoria a few years back Carl Bessai and Sir Ian McKellen hosted a small gathering to talk about filmmaking and funding and their experiences and it was SO interesting.... im really happy that Carl continues to make his movies locally. its just a shame that so many movies get shoved aside to make room for lowbrow stuff, blockbuster stuff. i know that blockbuster movies may make for better escapism, which is why a lot of people go. but powerful, interesting, thinking movies are a rare art form that needs to be promoted and loved and enjoyed :)

I agree! Here, in Europe, it's not easy for homegrown movies either, or for quiet, thinking movies but I can't imagine anything as sad as a $440 opening weekend. /c\
This looks like such a good movie. I hope it gets released in the States or goes to DVD really fast so I'll get a chance to see it. CKR just keeps impressing the hell out of me, not just for being hot, but for being such an incredible actor.
*nodsnods* I'd really like to watch it in the theater as well. (The way it looks just from the trailer, my chances seem to better than yours though.) And about CKR... yeah, no argument here.
