We're trying to teach DK how to not fall for bullies in the third grade. As she shrinks from aggression, and has fully interiorized the school precept "no fighting", several of the self-considered tough kids have taken to chasing, pushing and hitting her

Good for you: she understands that her parents have her back at all levels--i.e., both in the sense of dealing with the administration and also in teaching her how to protect herself. Poor kid.
