Springboard #21

What inspired you to become a cop? Does it run in the family? Did your family encourage you or discourage you?

Well, needless to say, my father was less than thrilled. Don’t get me wrong, he was proud that one of his children was going to be carrying a badge, but I don’t think he quite expected it to be not only his youngest, but his only girl.

Not that he thought I wouldn’t be able to do the job. Women had been cops long before my father got involved, but I think it’s different when it’s your own kid, ya know? You want them to be safe, and not do things that involve people shooting at you.

He’s used to it now, I guess. He knows that I can handle myself, and the only warnings he gives me involve the people I work with, so I guess he’s at least come to terms with it-whatever the case may be.
