lets' face it. no one is really really anonymous on the Net. if the Man wants to backtrace you, he can. it's just not done as often as one would expect because well most governments are tech idiots.
like you, i am all for freedom of speech on the interwebs, which sadly includes the freedom to put out garbage. it's the nature of the medium, and also "human nature" i suppose. then again, compared to print media culture, the blogosphere is not permeated with the veneer of so-callled journalistic objectivity. every blogger is an opinion pusher, and that's fine because netizens have the inalienable right to mouse-click out of a detestable blog.
being called a journalist does not exempt one from excreting mental crap. i've stopped reading opinion columns because 9 out 10, i don't care for the opinions of professional hacksters.
Been meaning to get in touch with you to update you on that Feminist Tech event we're trying to organise... But will email you about that later.
I don't read Manila Standard regularly but someone sent me the link to the article...
I reckon some columnists are pretty threatened about the blogging community. After all, it allows for everyone else having their own space for their own opinions. Their opinion just becomes one of many.
