Well, the standard Slackware 12.1 distro has a loadable kernel module that drives CPiA webcams, and if you plug in the QX3, it loads that module and all is well. If you "echo 'toplight: on' >/proc/cpia/video0", the light comes on. The snag is that freeze-frame snapshots in 'xawtv' fail -- the code must get the raster stride wrong, and the image (PPM or JPEG) is all the right coloured pixels, but in all the wrong places. I'll see if I can track down the bug and fix it.
