Eek! I actually had a similar experience some time ago when I left a glass pan on top of a hot stove. Needless to say there was pasta and glass everywhere. thankfully no one was in there when it happened.

Well, my experience was with a cheap pot that, as I learned, was not intended to be used on stove tops. I was covered with shards, but luckily the water wasn't hot enough to burn me and none of the shards broke skin.
