I recently asked my dad what my heritage is. I've always claimed Phillippino, mostly because of my name and that's what I was always told I was. Phillippino comes from my mom's side, but her maiden name is McRae so clearly she's not 100%. Heyyyy, a fellow Pinoy! If your mom is Filipino and has a name like McRae, then she's got a very diverse history. My mom's maiden name is Rodriguez, which points back to the Spanish colonial days. Add in my dad's background of Dutch-Indonesian, and I'm a complete mutt, but growing up, it was always easier to just say, "Oh, my mother's from the Philippines."

My name is actually the Spanish derivation: Beatriz.

I love my z. When I was like 6 I wanted a regular name like everyone else. Now, I love my name and always correct the spelling. And I won't let anyone call me B or Bea (hate that).

I always mean to ask you if you were Filipino, I could tell from your pics.
