Our Southern border: Someone, somewhere has told people in Guatemala and other places south of Mexico to send their kids here because they won't be turned away. This mass refugee exodus is no more spontaneous that the Benghazi "protest". Also, to think that those streaming across are just people looking for a better life beggars belief. Well they will not be turned away immediately as there is a law that requires a full immigration legal review before we send them back. Due to the sheer number, there is such a backlog that it can take 3-4 years to have that review. Especially when you have minimal info on each child and there has to be a basic investigation on each one. Note: The law is there as some Americans were inadvertently rounded up (OK, they were brown and without papers...), and deported to Mexico back in the Bush Jr. era.

For some parents this guarantees that their kids will be taken care of, safer, and better educated while being held, than in their home countries. In other cases, they believe the stories about the land of opportunity, and in some they make it to their destination and join the underground economy.
