It really is amazing, even when it's not very bright! If you stay and watch for a while you often see it unscrolling itself across the sky, too... *vbg* You can't see on these pics, but there were tinges of pink at the edges as well. *happy sigh* You must visit Alaska and find the aurora!
It wasn't as green in real life - the camera picks up the colour more efficiently than the naked eye does - but on the other hand my naked eye could see it dancing across the sky, and tinged pink on the edge. *g*
Just fantastic. I've seen the white version of the Northern lights, both the 'net curtain' effect and the searchlight variety in Northern Scotland, but never in colour. Lucky you to be in the right place at the right time!
This was probably the same as your white version - it wasn't this green as I watched it, but the camera picks up the colour better than our naked eyes do. It was tinged pink at the edges though, and danced across the skies! *g* I was lucky to have gone out just then, although partly it was because I remembered that 10/10.30pm was often a good time to see the lights. *vbg*
