Fuck, they'd made it onto the bus with him, just when he thought he was well away, were pounding up the stairs even as he realised it. There was no one else up there, so Bodie put his back to the wall, and prepared to fight, weaponless for the first time in months, almost in years...There was blood on the bus...

I really like #1. Because it feels like them, to me - the bond between them is so unbreakable at least partly because no-one else knows them and their not-all-sunshine-and-roses life so deeply and absolutely :-s
