Oh, 2020...

Jan 04, 2021 00:27

I am eternally behind, it seems, and tradition says that since I've started the new year like that, it's going to carry on. We'll see... *g* It's been ages since I posted - it seems like the less officially busy I get, the harder I find it to post too, weirdly enough. My last post was 26th November, just before examining was over and I settled ( Read more... )

yuletide, new year again, writing talk, photos, real life

Lovely pictures! And I definitely think you should post one a day again. :D

- the US election (hopefully an improvement there, anyway)

Ehhhhhhhhh...if only we can make it to January 20th. I'm still pretty terrified all the time right now.

Thank you! *g* I must admit, it does perk me up to take the photos and have a purpose for them, so... yeah. *g*

I can only imagine what the media over there is trying to frighten people with right up to the last minute... hang in there!

Thank you! It's not the media I'm worried about, sadly. What I'd been fearing would happen did happen yesterday (Jan. 6th).

You could leave the decorations up until Candlemas, instead. Such was evidently the practice at one time.

I like your photos, especially the graveyard. What is that object in the one with the moon?

Sounds as if you had a full 2020. I've found the New Year rejoicing a bit disorienting, since I had a truly terrible year, but not for the same reason as the swathes of other people.

Ack, sorry to hear you had a lousy year - hope 2021 is so much better, in that case, apart from everything else that's going on... Crossing all my fingers and holding my thumbs for you!

Actually until last year I always took them down on the 6th January - last year I succumbed and took them down on the 5th instead, and I hate to say it, but I did seem to have a better year (in a bizarre kind of way!) So I think I might just have to bow to superstition and magical thinking again this year, and cross my fingers it works twice... although it does feel wrong to take them down before the 6th!

And thanks! The light around the cemetery was magical - I took loads of pics, meaning to post them, and never did... The object with the moon is the top of my metal detector resting on the top of my spade! I could almost get my detector and the moon together, but not quite - but I kind of liked the weirdness of this one... *g*

But! But! Maybe last year you took them down on January 5th and unleashed fire and plague upon the world. You don't want to do that again.

Ouch I'm sorry to hear about your car! What a rotten thing to happen. Mine got slammed in a hailstorm late 2019 and I absolutely hated driving it until it was fixed.

You seem to have managed to have a fairly full year. Love your photos, too; definitely keep posting!

I'd just had such a nice afternoon too - gargh! I remember your car being hailstone-bashed too, and how crazy that seemed! My sister had the same thing with her car a few years ago (she's in Melbourne). On the bright side, at least you don't have to feel stupid about having done it!

The more I think about it, the more I can't believe that all that took place in the space of a single year!

I can hardly believe that when we last met up was less than a year ago - it feels a bit like another lifetime, doesn't it! Many congrats for getting the foodsharing initiative to happen (despite some of the "help" *g*) and for what sounds like a really nice place you're in. It's been a difficult time (in part for many of the same reasons that you mention :-s) and honestly seeing your posts and pics is a real pick-me-up (even if I'm not saying much most of the time, sorry :-( ).

Huge heaping helpings of good wishes to you! And here's hoping that there's another chance of a meet-up before too long!

It's crazy, isn't it - it seems sooooo much longer ago than a year! Back when the whole world was different...

The foodsaving is a really good thing - I'm so glad I did it... all inspired by milomaus's foodsaving project in Germany, so three cheers always for her! *g*

No worries about not saying much most of the time - but it's nice to see you when you do manage to say hi, cos that cheers me up too! And that's a good reason to keep trying to post, isn't it - to give you more chances to be able to nip in, and even when you can't, to do picking-up... *hugs to you*

And yes! Here is very definitely to meeting up again as soon as possible!

Lovely to see more beautiful photos! Particularly the last two including what looks like drunken tombstones, swaying in the mist (and shades of Great Expectations).

Thank you! *g*

Love the idea of drunken tombstones! The light was so gorgeous around the cemetery that afternoon that I took loads of pics - and then didn't post them... but I like this one too... *g*
