More sunshine and autumn gorgeousness today - and bonus Jack-o-lantern carving, because otherwise R and A wouldn't have seen a real one (they're away next week). I got a wow... from wee A, and R was very impressed by it too, so it was definitely worth £1! *g*

That's a great jack-o-lantern! Have you had previous experience?
ETA - sorry, didn't read properly, now see it was an event.

And ah, Sheri Tepper. I keep saying I need to read her again, it's been years since I last did.

Another comfort read, on my kindle now, is Martha in Paris by Margery Sharp.

I do reread Whiphand by Dick Francis enough to know some of the chapters by heart. Hmm, should pull that book out again soon.

I don't think I've ever read any Dick Francis (or if I did, it was so long ago that I've forgotten) - and I really should have. You're the second person I know to recommend him... *g*

I kept the pumpkin simple - R was fascinated though. She can be really nice when she's on her own and doesn't feel like she has to be jumping around to get your attention (i.e. when she already has it...)
One of my favourite things about moving to this job in Somerset, is how close it is the Discworld Emporium... *g*

Great pumpkin! Did R help get the brains out?
(Seeds and stuff...)

And hee - it was a bit hard to get the brains out, but she would have loved to try. I was rushing a bit cos A needed to be woken up by then, and we had a place to be, but she would probably have loved it too!

Ace Jack-o-lantern!
My comfort read used to be Anne McCaffrey's Dragonflight (mostly because of all the escapism and dragons) but more recently it's become the Captive Prince trilogy by C.S. Pacat.
