Wednesday in two Irelands

Jun 15, 2017 09:13

I started off in Eire, of course, and nipped down to the sea to see the Burren Coast, which was gloriously a bit odd, with random round boulders just sitting in spots, apparently balanced perfectly. My photos don't do it nearly justice, cos I was trying to avoid a coachload full of tourists who appeared just as I stopped!

I enjoyed Giant's Causeway and other bits of Northern Ireland but I probably wouldn't visit again because of the walls in Belfast. I was so uncomfortable touring the city. All countries have their problems but I had no idea there were still ghetto, er, "peace walls" there. It was so creepy! It's amazing what people "get used to". Oh well... I'm glad I don't live there and we had a nice place in Belfast in the mixed area but honestly didn't know the entire situation until the tour. History is an interesting creature.

However I love caves! That place is super cool! Giant's Causeway is such so interesting and fun! It's a nice walk so I hope you have a lack of tourists and good weather, although weather didn't deter us. We had rain, rain and rain.

I'm hoping to do a long weekend to Belfast sometime, but not been yet. Both sides did awful things - people are fairly awful creatures to each other really, aren't they...

There were lots of tourists at the Causeway, but I suspect it could have been worse! Much quieter where I am now...

Wow! How utterly fabulous - castle stairs, and caves, especially the caves which are wonderful! Those photos are amazing. I'm so glad you found yourself close enough to show them to us!

You find the best places! :)

Love the wee castle and the caves are awesome and even the peat truck is something unusual (at least here)!

My summer break is starting today (with rain), and I'm busy packing the MG for a 4 day trip. Hoping for some dry weather to go hiking.

Enjoy the rest of your trip!

Those caves are very cool and mysterious looking, if a bit scary.
