We went to see Lauffen ( Read more... )

What a gorgeous place! The village looks so inviting. But I'm really struck at how different German castles are compared to English ones.

German castles are different to English ones, aren't they - much more elegant somehow! *g*

Heee #trufact!

You don't speak German?! I was so assuming you would! I've been trying to pick up useful words, but they keep going in one ear and out the other, even the ones I tried to learn before I came... *headdesk*

The trick is keeping the dragon hidden from the Dragon Knight, who has a fearsome reputation for slaying the same. Of course, it helps if the dragon's protector is none other than the Earl's son, and the Dragon Knight is already out of his favour for having trodden on his pet stoat (although he swears it was an accident.) But reputations based on troubadour songs are, at best, an incomplete and, at worst, unreliable reflection of a man's character. The Dragon Knight may yet surprise both the young viscount and his little dragon (and perhaps even himself...)

:-)

Yes, I speak very little German. When I first came here, my entire German vocabulary consisted of words I'd picked up from war films. Not an auspicious start, admittedly, and I'll have you know it's jolly hard to work "Hande hoch!" and "Appell!" into polite conversation, so I have progressed a little since then. But mostly Ich spreche nur Englische (I only speak English.) It does not help that Ich bin ein langsam Lerner - I am a slow learner!

Heeee! And yeah, I think I'm a slow learner too - everything dribbles out of my head so quickly these days... but then English does too!
