On this day, ten years ago, down in a basement flat in Fairbanks Alaska, a girl opened a livejournal account... and all because of these blokes...(will you forgive me an uncut picspam, just this once? *g*)

That's exciting! I had no idea you had lived in Alaska. (But then, I've only known you for a short time.) We lived in Alaska (Matanuska-Susitna Valley, and Anchorage) for eight years. Happy LJ anniversary!
This was one of my very first icons... *vbg* And I'm so chuffed you were in Alaska too! I was up in Fairbanks, for six or seven years - with a couple of years break in between, and I still miss it! I have an excuse to go back though (not that I'd need one) - I still have stuff in a friend's basement there, cos I was supposed to be going back after a relatively brief research break here... only it all went wrong! *sniffs* One of these days... Can I be nosy and ask what you were doing up there? *g*
That's not nosy at all! My husband was military, assigned to Fort Richardson in Anchorage. We stayed up there for several years after he got out. All three of our children were born there, though only the oldest remembers it very well. (Like, the day the moose was out on the back porch eating birdseed from the feeder!)
I still miss it quite a bit, especially the scent of the new alder leaves in the spring. And the Northern Lights. And moose! We definitely miss seeing moose. Deer just aren't the same, lol.
I wondered if it might have been via one of the bases... *g* Oh, and I miss the thought that you might wake up in the morning to a moose eating on your porch! And the lights, and the trees... though it's the birth I miss, all that lovely silvery bark... *sighs* You're right - deer aren't the same! I've been re-watching Northern Exposure just recently, and missing the place there too (even though that wasn't quite... *g*)
Ten years? Impossible! Though the list of places you've visited/moved to is sure long enough! *g*
Congratulations, and many happy returns! I really enjoyed the pics of Bodie and Doyle, and the other one, too! How is the noise level at your country cottage now? Are the festivals all done for this year?
I know, it does seem impossible, doesn't it.... so much has and hasn't happened... I feel fidgety thinking about the list of places though - one spot, without thinking about the next one, is odd...
Thank goodness we seem to be back to normal noise too - the festivals seem to be finished. Really not looking forward to it again next year... which brings me back to fidgeting... *g*

I do tend to the nomadic - except that I end up taking more and more stuff with me, which doesn't quite work...!
