So I don't suppose you're going to be in the Wellington area for this great excursion? And if the SI weather is anything like ours, then yes indeed I expect that you will have caught some sun. :-)

No - waaah! I was originally hoping I'd manage to get over here for a few weeks or a month this time, and do a bit more travelling around, but it's not worked out like that (though there's a vague chance I might get over again in February...). If I do get a chance to hit Wellington, I'll drop you a line - and if not this time, then definitely some time, because I really am liking NZ. My next trip (well, hmmn, I do need to go and pick up my stuff in Alaska first I suppose...) may well be a proper longer excursion to NZ!

Wow, you should have set up one of those maps, you know, where we can all track the progress of slantedlight, with little dates. Like the NASA Santa Tracker!

This coffee thing... I remember you posting coffee piccies from Australia before. Is it a specifically Aussie thing, or is it something that lots of places do and I just don't buy enough coffee to notice?

Hee - I shall keep my eye out for a map, that'd be fun!

I saw the coffee-art a couple of years ago when I was over, and although it was in NZ a bit too, it seemed to be more Australian. This time there seems to be more of a fuss about coffee being good in Melbourne, so it might just be that they've cottoned onto what they can do and are hyping it up a bit. I remember seeing the same guy do a picture of a woman in a floppy sunhat on someone's coffee two years ago. Not seen it in the UK in the same way, though I wouldn't be surprised if there were places in London that did it. Probably with Aussie baristas... *g*

That is some amazing Latte art (or maybe flat white?)!
How on earth can they get this kind of detail?

Good to hear that Christchurch is recovering, after everything they went through!
And don't you know that US Dollars are accepted everywhere? ;)

Happy travelling!

It was a latte! And yes - it is amazing, isn't it! He seemed to do it with just a few tiny swipes of a toothpick too, made it look so easy!

It was nice to see Christchurch looking good, even where it didn't - I wasn't sure what to expect, to be honest. They seem to be doing an ace job, though... *g*

More one of these days - honest!

Thank you! I've only managed to dot in and out of lj again for ages - but I'm going to try yet again to post some pictures tonight. I got as far as getting them all sorted out the other night... *g*
