Le weekend est la breezy...

Oct 27, 2013 17:30

Well, having been rushing all day through dire sleepiness (I've got to get myself to bed at a decent hour instead of the small wee ones) to get my room moderately presentable for someone coming to look at it, she's just texted to cancel cos she was going to cycle here and there's something of a stiff breeze out there, so... phew, at ease... Which ( Read more... )

Lovely piccies again, thank you! I love the sunrise - so pretty.

I had to mention high winds to my closest neighbour, who leaves her big metal dustbin out, plus various recycling boxes - last time we had a blow they made so much racket I went and put them away for her - so this time I thought I'd drop a hint before I have to go wrestle with them in the dark *g*

Throwing stuff out is so cathartic - at least, after you've done it. Complete nightmare while your actually doing it, so much sympathy and cups of tea or whatever it takes to get you through. And wow - only three weeks to go - wheeeeeeee!

The sunrise completely surprised me - I could see something vaguely pink was happening, so I grabbed my phone and headed east, and there it was, just outside the kitchen door! *g*

Eeep for racketing metal dustbins - people are funny old things, aren't they... Hope it's metal-dustbin-quiet tonight, anyway!

And eeeh - three weeks to go. The really good coffee would be much appreciated, thanks... *g*

Some of those pics would make nice desktop wallpapers!

It suddenly went really dark at about 8.00.a.m this morning (new time) and rained a bit then it was windyish till lunch time and now we have 'normal' weather whereas we've been gearing up for hurricanes. Maybe they're on the way?

I didn't get to bed till really late and then woke up really early so despite the 'extra hour' I've been really tired and have so far managed to fall asleep twice over a book. And I knew the time was changing.

Well thank you! *g*

It's been mega-windy here all day - maybe it's avoiding you guys up north this time! I remember a few times hearing dramatic news of storms and so on, when I lived in Manchester, and the day was perfectly fine up there! I remember being jealous of all the fab weather... *g*

Today's a funny old day - so many people have said that they're really tired and sleepy! Must be the extra hour throwing us off somehow, even if we could have used it to sleep in!

Nothing much here yet, but it did occur to me to push the flowerpots a bit further away from the edge of the roof ... um, that's about it really. Oh, and we took down the bird feeder because it's right up against a glass door. There. Hope that turns out to be either enough or (preferably) more than enough!

Always love seeing the photos! And ohhh argh the pain of decluttering - I haven't succeeded in doing that in dog knows how long ... good luck!

Looks like it might have blown itself out here now - I can see blue sky patches, after big winds and rain! Ooh, and hear birds now! And it's coming up for 10am (well okay, it's after 9am... *g*), so looks like the weather forecasters were spot on about that, here! Hope all's well with you, and you weren't under any of the cranes or scaffolding or trees that came down!

More decluttering today, I hope - it all feels rather intense for just de-cluttering, though maybe that's to do with moving house too, and not knowing where I'll be coming back to!

Beautiful pictures! How can there still be so many flowers blooming?
We've had fall colors all around until just yesterday, when all the yellow leaves from our Oregon Ash in the back yard finally came down. Now it's all golden on the ground, ankle deep.
And the tiny blueberry bushes up front look like miniature trees, with red leaves.

Goo to hear that the car is going again, especially since you have to move so much more in/out of storage! But first, take care with that weather!

Three laptops and a box full of floppies? :)
Though I have to admit there is a whole bunch of Pros floppies around, from when every pc had a floppy drive. Now none of them do, but I just can't throw them away.
And there is one old laptop, that absolutely weighs a ton! Not sure, how I ever had that on my lap, but it seemed perfectly fine, then.

Good luck with all the packing and getting ready!

I know - I was amazed by the gardens a couple of weeks ago, and they're still looking gorgeous! Mind you, it's been really mild over here. Yesterday was 18C, and I was out and about sleeveless. Our storm seems to have done its worst around here (loose fence in the garden, reports of trees down around the area - and apparently a crane fell near 10 Downing St!) and there's blue sky out there now (though still a bit of breeze now and then. The birds are back, though, which is probably a good sign!

I stared and stared at the floppies, and finally bought a floppy-drive for about £7. I'll copy stuff over to my back-up places, and at least have it in current format for deleting! If it'd been more expensive I probably wouldn't have, but... Isn't it funny about the old laptops too - I've still got my desktop in Alaska, and probably wouldn't even think of having one of those for home now, even...

And thank you! I really must go and get on with more packing and chucking this morning!

Nice piccies again - like you say, there's still so much colour! I hope they battened everything down against this storm.

I sympathise about the printed fic - I already feel guilty about printing it to read, so chucking it away seems even less green :(

Roll on Dubai, though - I'm looking forward to your photos from there!

I don't feel guilty about printing fic, because I know it's better for my eyes to read it on paper (even than e-ink), and I really really wish I could keep it for that reason - but I literally don't have the space in my storage, and don't even know where I'll end up when I get back next February, so I just can't justify it right now... The other thing is that it's so easy to lose things that rely on electricity and so on - I was thinking about that yesterday when our power was out...

I'm sooo looking forward to having all this done, and needing to do nothing other than be-where-I-am when I'm travelling, and my daily work, and maybe feeling as if I can write again... In fact maybe I'll just carry on doing that forever... *g*
