...and I'm waking up very slowly (and wishing I didn't have to)... I was wandering the web, avoiding the kind of thoughts that would lead to doing anything, but looking for inspiration all the same, and came across this at the Nasa apod site. I'm probably the last person in the world to see it, but might I say wow? *g*

I love seeing the aurora ( Read more... )

I'm probably the last person in the world to see it - No no, last but one, at the most. I'm speechless (and you know me, this is not usual).

And the auroras. They're... wow. It's like watching another dimension of the universe being revealed. (I always wanted to see them too, and I never have yet.)

I am trying to work out whether the term "unearthly beauty" is the most perfectly right term or the most perfectly wrong one!

Lol - that really did stun you, then! *g* It is a bit bloody amazing though, isn't it... I could sit watching it for hours...

The aurora was my favourite thing about living in Alaska - and the best thing about having an outhouse, because if you did have to get up in the middle of the night there was often a definite reward! Oh, now I just want to go back... *sighs*...

I'd never seen it before! Good lord, that is truly beautiful.

I think I'm going to try to run off chasing the auroras in Sweden with a friend of mine this year or the next one... We shall see. It would be incredible.

I remember the one and only time I have ever felt I properly understood WHY they occur is when Professor Brian Cox explained them... And it blew my tiny mind! Luckily, I have forgotten it all again! :D

Hee - you're ahead of me, I didn't think they'd properly sussed out auroras yet. I might have known Brian Cox has, though... *g*

Oh, and I'm so jealous of your Swedish trip! I want to go abroad this year (I mean I know there was the whole Australia/NZ thing last year, which was ace, but it wasn't exploring the unknown, you know?) and I want to see the aurora again, and... and... and...

The vid's amazing though, isn't it...

That was awesome in the true sense of the word. I hadn't seen it before so thanks for sharing. Feel quite insignificant now, in the grand scheme of things.

Hee - definitely awesome! I'm not sure it makes me feel insignificant - more worried that we've covered such huge swathes of the planet with such bright lights, and all that means... Hmmn!

It really is absolutely blinding, isn't it! I'm hugely envious of anyone who's seen it live ...
