Well, in a small way, you ARE doing your part.

Lawns should be outlawed/restricted, in my opinion. They are no good for anybody. Lawns do not exist in nature, so they are naturally quite useless to animals. To mow a lawn is a waste of fuel. Pound for pound, a lawnmower engine is one of the least efficient and most polluting motors in existence. For the true lawn fanatic, who waters his lawn, the waste of a precious resource is obvious. For those who put chemicals on their lawn, I only pray the toxins run off into their own drinking water and nobody else's. Besides, mowing a lawn is a tremendous waste of time.

You could always try to get one of those old fashioned push powers, but I hear you have to clean them afterwards or the wheels get stuck.
