Dear Pansy,

I was quite glad to get your letter. Thank you for writing.

I feel for your mother. It is one thing to know for certain that your husband is alive or dead; it is quite another to not know, day after day. For your family's sake, I hope he is alive and will come home to you someday or at least write. I suspect even a letter would be a comfort to you and your mother.

Draco has been moody and restless. He hasn't discussed resuming his studies, and I'm quite concerned about that--but I also do not think he's in a fit state of mind to study for NEWTs, right now. He has been through so much over the past couple of years, and I think NEWTs are just not a high priority for him, at the moment. Right now, I'm inclined to let him be. I don't consider that coddling him, oddly enough; I consider it part of the healing process. What concerns me is, how long should I give him to heal? I am going to have to write to Professor McGonagall about this, I think.

About the Manor--I feel a little more comfortable in it, now. I visited my sister Andromeda the other night for the first time in many years, and I think that helped. It hasn't made the bad memories vanish, but it has made me feel more able to face them, and I needed that.

So I have been wondering--Would you and your mother care to visit for tea? I know that you must be deep in studying, but perhaps you could come by on a weekend, sometime. I am hopeful that Draco will decide to be sociable, and I'm sure Lucius would be pleased to see your mother for a bit.

Let me know if 2pm next Saturday would be convenient for you.

Sincerely,

Narcissa Malfoy
