Bill sat at a table alone in the Leaky Cauldron, sipping his ordered mead as he waited for his brother. It was strange having Charlie home still, as in the past few years he had only been able to see him when Bill managed to find a couple days to travel to Romania...and since meeting Fleur, it had been less frequent. The Weasley family was together again, but for the large gaping hole Fred had left when he died. Nothing would ever be the same again, but Bill had been prepared for it. In truth, when Voldemort returned, Bill had always assumed he would be the one to perish. He never gave a thought that maybe one of his siblings would die...the thought had been too painful to contemplate, and he had been too determined to never let it happen.
He knew his family would heal. The process would take time, and for some reason, Bill had a feeling that there were rough times ahead, even in the lighter atmosphere of the Wizarding world. Perhaps there were no outward conflicts to deal with now that Voldemort was dead and his followers were being smoked out and punished. But sometimes internal conflicts were far more damaging. Bill wondered if any of them were prepared.
The door opened and Bill looked up to see Charlie enter. Bill lifted his hand in a wave to get his attention and soon Charlie was pulling back the chair to the table. "You're late," Bill commented lightly. "From the look on your face, I'd wager mum was either trying to cut your hair, or insisting you not go out in muddy boots."
