The chief warlock of the Wizengamot studied Narcissa for a moment. He took off his eyeglasses, wiped them with a handkerchief, and replaced them on his head. "Very well, Mrs. Malfoy. As you contest the charge of treason let us examine that, shall we? High treason is defined as any act that undermines the Sovereign's authority or the government of the United Kingdom. There are several acts which constitute high treason, including intimate congress with the Sovereign's consort, eldst unmarried daughter, or the wife of the Heir to the Throne. But we are not concerned with those, as it is quite obvous that you are not guilty of doing such things ( ... )

Narcissa looked back at the Mudblood girl as she sat in the witness' chair. The girl looked pale and a bit nervous--and no wonder, considering what the prosecutor would make her relive in a few moments. Narcissa looked back at Hermione calmly but favored the chief warlock with a look of dislike. This was just plain cruelty. She had admitted to the crimes, hadn't she? Why put the girl through it all again ( ... )

The chief warlock waited for Narcissa to elaborate, but she didn't, and since testimony about Severus Snape had little to do with her trial, he decided to let it rest, for the moment.

"Very well, then, Mrs. Malfoy. Perhaps you might discuss that interesting point later. Miss Granger, I think that will be all. Thank you for your testimony. Bailiff, if you will summon Miss Luna Lovegood to the stand, please."

Luna kept her eyes focused straight ahead as the Baliff lead her into the courtroom. She didn't glance at the Wizengamot and, most importantly, didn't look at Narcissa ( ... )
