The entry for March, odds are.

By now you're probably thinking it takes a miracle for me to post on LJ, but that's not it at all. It only takes something marvelous for me to post on LJ. And lucky for you, just such a thing recently arrived in my inbox. My Russian friend from Goethe writes: "Rachel!!!! are you good at boys' physiology- ok, at American boys' physiology? I just ( Read more... )

Grackles blow. They are almost worse than the right wingers that populate this state.

And while we are on the subject of Texas, you were out all this way and no visit? I'm hurt :(

Pictures aren't working. I want pictures, gosh dern it!

If I'd driven, of course I would have continued on to visit you (or stopped there first; Corpus is really far). Sadly, the plane couldn't be diverted so easily, even by a crazy rebel like me with her toiletries in a gallon zip-top bag instead of a quart-sized one.

I wonder why the pictures aren't working. (I'm hosting them on my quality Geocities site, which I built ages ago for the sole purpose of getting my thesis files to Northrop when the attachments kept getting corrupted.) Specifically, I wonder why I can see them and you can't... I'll investigate.

You know, I'm sure there were connecting flights from Corpus Christi to Austin, but whatevs. I'll get over it I suppose. *Le sigh*

Butters' pic is blank with a little red "X" in corner, and the dress tells me the site is unavailable. Maybe it's just the ghosts in my machine.

My roommate and I both agree that the dress you chose is quite attractive and perfectly fine for a wedding! Now if I can only get designers to understand that not every junior-sized person is 5'6" (and therefore they should make shorter length clothes, esp. tops).

Still, a victory is a victory!

Same basic problem, I imagine: all the petite clothes are too "old," while all the normal-sized clothes are actually model sized. Dear world: please sell clothes we can wear *and* want to wear.

Exactamundo--I tried to find a good new dress for Easter, and there were only 2 dress styles in Petite (both hideous), and the one I really liked in juniors would have been fine if I were taller, but instead the v-neck went to the bottom of my sternum--that didn't work at all!

Ann Taylor Petites is the only store whose stuff fits me more-or-less consistently. I went into a bajillion stores looking for a petite dress for weddings this summer, and sadness reigned, even in the petites section. BOOOO, I say. BOOOO.

It's like dress-up, actually. A little on the ballerina-y side.

NOW I JUST NEED SOME SHOES. KILL ME.

A friend swears by zappos.com. I've only used it for shoes I was pretty sure were going to fit -- I'd tried the style on in a different color -- but the site offers free return shipping, and has a big selection in varying widths. NARROW SHOOZ 4EVR.

Here's why:
1) No "jack 'n' sack" can stand up to the green dress.
2) Who cares if it is too formal?
3) I'm the bride and what I say goes.

Oh, you debate kids: straight to the heart of the matter. And it's one of my last chances to do what Miss Bell says!

I'm serious about the shoes, though. Why is it so hard to find shoes that are comfortable yet not completely inappropriate?

Ah, the great shoe dilemma. It is in fact difficult to meld those two things, although may I suggest looking at a formal wedge? They're surprisingly comfy and a nice silver number would do wonders for that green dress. Which, of course it's not too formal and of course you should wear, b/c it's fabulous.

And that is my shoe expertise (b/c we all know I've got more than my fair share of footware :)
