Muffin-Car Update:The muffin, alas, is gone. I did a bit of searching in the nearby snow heaps and such, but didn't find it, possibly because it was 5:35 PM then and quite dark. But the driver's side gained interest even as the passenger side regained normality: there was a great sheaf of parking tickets jammed in and around the window there. I ( Read more... )

I'm /so/ good. aaronica December 21 2005, 04:21:32 UTC
I was gonna ask you to take pictures of the kitty-babies you're sitting for, but then I realized I'd never get to see them anyway because you'll never get them developed and checked my impulse. See how good I am?

Also: fuck Donnie Darko right in the ear, dude. Highfalutin garbage! If my hunch is correct you'd berate it for all the reasons I did. If my other hunch is correct, though, you'd be amused by I <3 Huckabees in a manner similar to mine. ("to me"? "to mine"? Fuck, I'm too tired to disentangle the structure of my own sentence. Goodnight!)

Dude, check this heart-breaking shit: I finished up a roll of film yesterday, went to wind it back up, and... well, I don't think it ever fully unwound. My lake/duck pictures? Non-existent. I weep.

I totally watched I <3 Huckabees this very evening, and while I thought it was a little cheesy and overblown and just seeing Jude Law's face makes me itch to punch him, I kinda liked it. It didn't remind me of anything in particular, which is a nice change.

I'd go all grammer_nazi on you, but I'm in too good a mood. GOOOOOOOOOOOO PENNSYLVANIA! Gimme an O(bservation)! Gimme an H(ypothesis)! Gimme an E(xperimentation)! Gimme an A(nalysis/conclusion)! What's that spell?

SCIENCE! SCIENCE! GOOOOOOOOOO SCIENCE!

There were a lot of near-abandoned cars on my street in Hyde Park, which were annoying because they parked badly (in an area with an on-street parking shortage anyway) and then didn't move until the street-cleaning signs went up. Then the owner would take the one car with a working engine, chain it to whichever totally-dead cars required moving, and tow it away to a new location. Great fun, that neighborhood. Evanston police may have sticks up their butts when it comes to permits (parking and otherwise), but they know how to get rid of undesirables (like abandoned cars, and the homeless).

That mom should've gotten her son's girlfriend the pinkest, bowsiest, girliest envelope in the store, and told him that if he didn't like it, he could decorate it with a sharpie and offensive phrasing. I'm sure that'd win her heart.

Even though I haven't read H2G2 (book) or seen it (movie), I laughed aloud at your review. You win!

My 'experimental' envelopes - all lowercase, metallic inks, heavy flourishing, the occasional line drawing or Shakespearean tableau - tend to get through, but I'm not sure the postal service will even deliver a package with, say, genitalia sketched onto the bears.

Use the time you would spend pondering that issue (or sketching) to read the first book of the Hitchhiker's series. It's extremely entertaining: nice style, the aforementioned voice. It's short, and therefore good plane reading. And if you like it, there are many more books in the trilogy. I would mail it to you, except I never owned it in English - I just borrowed my sister's copy, as she would have been happy to tell you at the time (I took it without asking, and won't anyone help her?). While I'm mentally raiding her bookshelf yet again, you might also like Red Dwarf. Mmmm, vacation.

Hi! Thank you for the beautiful card! I just got it yesterday; Dann, my priest, had been hoarding the over-the-break mail in his locked office. I plan to frame the cards you've given me! It's so nice that you think me special enough to put me on your list. I hope you've had a wonderful holiday, Rachel, and thank you again.
