IN which the three most recent days are narrated, WITH attention to unnecessary detail AND a heaping portion of self-indulgence, THE AUTHOR having travelled to the Czech Republic AND there purchased the wrong book entirely, FOLLOWING a rather more succesful trip to an art gallery, BECAUSE who can screw up a trip to an art gallery, REALLY, ( Read more... )

Despite the usual trials and tribulations that come with language acquisition abroad, sounds like things are going well for you there. Hell, at least you got out of your primary country. I couldn't manage that one myself.

Dude, you so should have watched the soccer game. I doubt it would have ended the way my game did. An Argentina/Brazil game will always end in tear gas. By the way, who is Germany's big arch rival team?

Finally, embrace the rage. Rage is infinitely more useful than being sad, depressed, or just smiling and nodding. Rage keeps you moving forward. Madamanda and I are strong supporters of rage. Rage on.

As I understand it, both teams were German. DD just got moved up from level 3 to level 2, and the team they beat that night had just been moved down from level 1 (the nation's top teams) to level 2, so it was a kind of coming-of-age game or something. I really would like to go to one, but I need a little more advanced warning than "Oh, hey, there's a huge crowd. What would happen if I wandered into it?" Like for instance I'd want to write a will first.

I'm with you 100% on the RAGE front. I find it imparts a certain clarity to thought and action.

When I saw the title of this entry, the first thing I thought was "Sully!" It took me to the end of the post to realize that "Montag" is, in fact, German.

Also I cut and pasted all of those nasty German phrases into whichever free translators I could find ( http://translation2.paralink.com/ , http://babelfish.altavista.com/tr ). I am at school, mind you, in the public computer lab. And all I can say is: *What?*

Among the replies I jotted down "Peinlich", "5 minus", "Nicht das, was die Onanie versprach", "Voll cool (danke, Sabine)", "Unromantisch, eklig, aber trotzdem spannend", and (the one whose irrelevant detail horrified Joao enough that he came and found O and I to show us), "Interview mit einem Vampir lief in Fernseher, und ich hatte die Socken nach an".
That'd be, uh, "Embarrassing", "Negative 5", "Not what masturbation promised", "Very cool (thanks, Sabine)", "Unromantic, disgusting, but still interesting", and "Interview with the Vampire was playing on television, and I still had my socks on".

Shit cracks me up.
