"Introduce yourself."
Draco had to stop and turn around properly. Yes, that was Potter. Yes, he was standing in the doorway of the compartment. Yes, he did appear to be talking to him.
"Come again?"
"I said, introduce yourself." Potter blinked, absolutely expressionless, but tightly so, as if he were willing himself to be calm.
Draco furrowed his brow and looked around for Weasley. Had to be a trick.
Potter leaned to the side a little. "I'm not going to wait all day, you know. You just have to say--"
"I have manners, Potter," Draco said automatically, but he was still completely at a loss, sure that he was going to get hexed. It usually happened on the train - but there was no-one around. Just Draco dithering in the corridor and Potter behaving like a crazy person in the empty compartment.
"So use them." Potter pulled his wand out of his pocket, held it up for a second, put it down on the seat inside. Went back to swinging on the doorframe, blank face replaced with a very very faint smile. Maybe. Draco really didn't know what Potter's subtle expressions were. Didn't really know if he *had* any.
Fine. He'd play.
He stuck out his hand, looked Potter in the eyes. Hard.
"Draco Malfoy. Pleased to meet you."
There.
Potter grasped his hand, shook it firmly.
"Harry Potter. Likewise."
